The water indicator application contains a large library of water related indicators. For each of the indicators a metadata sheet is developed and made available for the user. We are very interested in suggestions for additional indicators and if they are relevant we will look at how to include them. Please let us know if you know of relevant indicators not yet added to the application.

The indicator tool now includes additional default frameworks including one for water utilities. The focus is on issues that are occurring in the catchment area that may affect water utility operation.

Guidance is also available presenting an approach for water utilities to use the application to contribute to ensuring their service provision by assessing three priorities:

  • Assessing the main threat: Utilities understand the threats to their operational capacity in meeting their service provision. Indicators help assess the state or pressure of threats, such as flood or drought events.
  • Assessing the current preparedness: examine preparedness to eliminate or reduce the effects of identified threats.
  • Assessing the capacity: Utility capacity to mitigate the impacts of threats.
