The drought application is expected to be released during the late part of August and comprises of a warning and a risk part.

Warning part:

  • A number of drought hazard maps will be made available eg. number of consecutive dry days over the past 30 days or accumulated rainfall over the past 14 days etc.
  • The user is able to define their own thresholds and identify areas where the thresholds are exceeded. This could be areas with less then 25 mm of rainfall or more than 10 consecutive dry days over the past period
  • The warning will be connected to the reporting part allowing users to recieve a notification if a warning threshold is exceeded.

Risk part:

  • Build around a hazard and a vulnerability part
  • The hazard part contains different drought hazard maps which can be viewed and downloaded
  • The vulnerability part is based on a number of vulnerability layers to be viewed on top of the hazard map to identify areas with drought risk

At the release of the drought application a more detailed explanation of the application will be available through the user guide.
